Community

The wider Leeds community will be key in reaching primary schools and  ensuring they have the practical help they need. How could you help?

Gardeners and Community Gardens: As a keen gardener you may not have time to volunteer yet still feel passionate about sharing your love with the next generation. You could help a local school by supporting our volunteers to source compost, unwanted garden tools or surplus fruit or vegetable plants and seedlings.

Garden Centres and Businesses: Community engagement is one of the key pillars of corporate social responsibility (CRS). By demonstrating a commitment to the community, either locally or nationally, you can motivate staff and enhance your business reputation.

By supporting Allotments for Schools (Leeds), you will be making a huge difference to the education of young people. As a business specialising in horticulture, you are well placed to support young people to gain an understanding and passion for growing their own fruit and vegetables.

Here are just a few ways you might be able to contribute:

  • Donating compost and plants.

  • Donating gardening tools, raised bed/pots or water collecting apparatus.

  • Enabling your staff to volunteer to support local schools manage their nature space.

  • Promoting the Allotments for Schools initiatives to staff and customers.

  • Becoming a recognised sponsor by regularly donating funds or resources to support the growth of Allotments for Schools.

If your organisation would like to be involved, please get in touch, outlining how you can help. We look forward to hearing from you.

Carpenters and Joiners: Many schools lack space for a nature area. Can you support your local primary school by making simple raised flower beds or window boxes? Just simple designs required, using any spare off cuts; the look is not important if it does the job. If you are unable to construct the boxes, maybe you could provide off cuts of wood so that volunteers can do the assembly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
